Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB+ TradesF FutureD
The Raiders found their guy under center in Sanders: D-.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Raiders watched Smael Mondon Jr. slide 65 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. It grades a D-, and the process earned it.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. They have staked the next five years on Shedeur Sanders, which is the only story that really matters here. The Williams pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and tight end is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Travis Hunter
In the 1st overall pick they get a sticky cover corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick2 Rnd1 Shedeur Sanders
In pick No. 2 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick34 Rnd2 Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge at the 34th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick65 Rnd3 Omarion Hampton
They robbed the room for Omarion Hampton here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick69 Rnd3 Mike Green
Mike Green at No. 69 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick103 Rnd4 Donovan Ezeiruaku
Donovan Ezeiruaku in slot 103 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick139 Rnd5 Deontae Lawson
Deontae Lawson in the 139th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick178 Rnd6 Smael Mondon Jr.
Smael Mondon Jr. in pick No. 178 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick212 Rnd6 Miles Frazier
A straight-up fair deal on Miles Frazier at the Round 6 slot, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick216 Rnd7 J.Michael Sturdivant
A conviction pick on J.Michael Sturdivant at Round 7, Pick 2 that the board grades a round light. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick217 Rnd7 Antonio Williams
Antonio Williams in the 217th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
