Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
B
ValueB-
NeedA
TradesB-
FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Packers, and a B to prove it. For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Packers walked out of the weekend still thin at quarterback, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They are betting Hairston proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Bond. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 3 of 8 of the wish list covered.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Mykel Williams
Good price on Mykel Williams in pick 23, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick54
Rnd2
Maxwell Hairston
A big swing on Maxwell Hairston at slot 54, well ahead of any board in the building. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick87
Rnd3
Isaiah Bond
Isaiah Bond slipping to the 87th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
