Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B-
ValueC- NeedB TradesD FutureA+
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Browns a B-.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Browns would have aced it. Sam M'Pemba at the 211th overall pick is 246 spots clear of where he belonged.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. The Browns clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.

Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
By-the-book stuff, Jeremiyah Love at pick No. 6 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Pick20 Rnd1 KC Concepcion
In No. 20 they get a home-run threat at receiver, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick37 Rnd2 Eli Stowers
A real head-scratcher, Eli Stowers in Round 2, Pick 5 is miles ahead of his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick68 Rnd3 Will Lee III
The board had cheaper options than Will Lee III at the Round 3 slot, and it noticed. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick103 Rnd4 Diego Pavia
Diego Pavia in the 103rd overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick113 Rnd4 Chase Bisontis
A premium they did not need to pay, Chase Bisontis a notch or two before his time. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick145 Rnd5 Ar'maj Reed-Adams
No drama and no debate, Ar'maj Reed-Adams went about where he belonged in the Round 5 slot. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick146 Rnd5 Le'Veon Moss
Le'Veon Moss in the 146th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick148 Rnd5 Jacob Rodriguez
A reach on Jacob Rodriguez in pick 148; the board had better options right there. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick204 Rnd6 Scooby Williams
They talked themselves into Scooby Williams at No. 204, and the board did not agree. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick211 Rnd6 Sam M'Pemba
Sam M'Pemba at the 211th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick241 Rnd7 Peyton Bowen
No edge and no loss on Peyton Bowen in pick No. 241; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
