Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Cardinals let Hicks fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Cardinals never addressed quarterback, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

Getting Hicks where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Mahogany has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
In No. 4 they get a home-run threat at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick27 Rnd1 Terrion Arnold
In pick No. 27 they get a sticky cover corner at a price that makes it sweeter. More want than need.
Pick35 Rnd2 Graham Barton
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Graham Barton at pick 35. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick66 Rnd3 Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
By-the-book stuff, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick71 Rnd3 Bralen Trice
Bralen Trice at the 71st overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick90 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
A reach on Christian Mahogany in the 90th pick; the board had better options right there. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick104 Rnd4 Jaden Hicks
Taking Jaden Hicks in pick 104 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. A minor need, but a need all the same.
