Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
B
ValueB-

TradesA-
FutureB-
The Bills let Smith fall and pounced. Final grade: B. Somebody in pick 134 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Bills sat still while Maason Smith, the No. 111 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They are betting Walker proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
The trade work was a quiet net positive. Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the linebacker spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick60
Rnd2
Devontez Walker
Devontez Walker at the 60th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick128
Rnd4
Beau Brade
Beau Brade in Round 4, Pick 28 is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick134
Rnd4
Maason Smith
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Maason Smith in No. 134, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
