Larceny in the Round 7 slot lands the Packers a A-, Johnson and all.

Somebody in pick 245 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Packers sat still while Cornelius Johnson, the No. 186 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.

It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

Bottom line, with Cooper DeJean leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
