Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
Grand theft in the 238th pick: the Patriots steal Reid and grade out a B-.

The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Karene Reid, slot 238, roughly 22 picks past where he belonged. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

Robinson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Travis Hunter
In No. 4 they get a potential shutdown corner. Need was not the driver here.
Pick38 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Omarion Hampton at the 38th pick. It fills a real need, too.
Pick69 Rnd3 Jaylin Noel
Jaylin Noel in the 69th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick77 Rnd3 Ozzy Trapilo
They paid sticker price for Ozzy Trapilo in pick 77, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick106 Rnd4 Kevin Winston Jr.
Kevin Winston Jr. at slot 106 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick144 Rnd5 Hollin Pierce
Hollin Pierce in Round 5, Pick 6 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The roster fit checks out.
Pick171 Rnd5 Que Robinson
They reached a country mile for Que Robinson at pick No. 171, and the board is aghast. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick220 Rnd7 Alijah Huzzie
A straight-up fair deal on Alijah Huzzie at the Round 7 slot, value and slot in agreement. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick238 Rnd7 Karene Reid
They will replay Karene Reid at pick 238 for years; that is how good the value is. It adds depth where they could use a little.
