Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall C+
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureA+
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Vikings to a C+.

Nobody else had Jackson Slater anywhere near pick No. 109. The Vikings did, by 39 spots, and that gap is the whole story.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Neal at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.

Pick Analysis
Pick97 Rnd3 Devin Neal
Devin Neal is a better player than the 97th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick109 Rnd4 Jackson Slater
A real head-scratcher, Jackson Slater in the Round 4 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick139 Rnd5 Mello Dotson
They did well to land Mello Dotson in pick No. 139, just ahead of his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick226 Rnd7 Ricky White III
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Ricky White III in No. 226. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick251 Rnd7 Zeek Biggers
A clean, defensible pick in the 251st pick with a little surplus value in Zeek Biggers. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick257 Rnd7 Sam Brown Jr.
Sam Brown Jr. slid further than he should have, and pick 257 is lovely value for the wide receiver. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
