A franchise passer in McCarthy headlines a B weekend for the Steelers.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. J.J. McCarthy is the Steelers' quarterback, full stop. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

They banked enough surplus on Sturdivant to cover a lot of smaller sins. With interior defensive lineman, safety and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on offensive lineman is the choice that costs them.

The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. If Bartholomew pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
