Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall
A-

NeedB
TradesB+
FutureA+
The Chiefs aced the weekend. Grade: A-. The needs board said one thing and the Chiefs did another, using slot 111 on Domani Jackson while linebacker waited. This is how you run a draft, and the A- reflects it.
Banks at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. That linebacker hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Adding De'Von Achane by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies. The Price pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.
Pick Analysis
Pick40
Rnd2
Caleb Banks
They let Caleb Banks come to them and pounced at the 40th overall pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick55
Rnd2
Elijah Sarratt
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Elijah Sarratt at the 55th overall pick is the proof. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick56
Rnd2
Kamari Ramsey
Kamari Ramsey slid further than he should have, and slot 56 is lovely value for the safety. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick74
Rnd3
Eli Stowers
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Eli Stowers in the 74th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick89
Rnd3
Julian Neal
Julian Neal is a better player than the Round 3 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick111
Rnd4
Domani Jackson
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending Round 4, Pick 11 on Domani Jackson with linebacker unsolved.
Pick119
Rnd4
Jadarian Price
They jumped the gun on Jadarian Price, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The roster fit checks out.
Pick147
Rnd5
DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart at pick No. 147 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick152
Rnd5
Max Iheanachor
By-the-book stuff, Max Iheanachor at pick 152 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick156
Rnd5
Kevin Coleman Jr.
No drama and no debate, Kevin Coleman Jr. went about where he belonged in the 156th pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick177
Rnd5
Trinidad Chambliss
Trinidad Chambliss in the Round 5 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
