Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the 49ers a B-.

The 49ers' one glaring miss is running back, a need they left exactly as they found it.

The Hill Jr. pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The Hurst pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Kenyon Sadiq
In the 27th overall pick they get a matchup weapon at tight end, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Pick58 Rnd2 Anthony Hill Jr.
They let Anthony Hill Jr. come to them and pounced at No. 58. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick92 Rnd3 Genesis Smith
A reasonable price with a little left over, Genesis Smith in slot 92. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick127 Rnd4 Keylan Rutledge
Keylan Rutledge in Round 4, Pick 27 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick133 Rnd4 Ted Hurst
They went early on Ted Hurst in the Round 4 slot, and the value did not follow. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick138 Rnd4 Domani Jackson
No edge and no loss on Domani Jackson in the 138th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick171 Rnd5 Eric McAlister
A straight-up fair deal on Eric McAlister at pick No. 171, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
