Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Bills cashed the board's mistake on Hadden: B+.

Whoever sat across the table from the Bills should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.

The Hadden pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. They will need Gore Jr. to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

Job largely done: linebacker settled and 8 of 9 of the wish list covered.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In slot 28 they get a difference-maker at receiver, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick63 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
A reasonable price with a little left over, Payton Wilson in No. 63. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick133 Rnd4 Josh Newton
Josh Newton is a better player than the 133rd pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick138 Rnd5 Tommy Eichenberg
By-the-book stuff, Tommy Eichenberg at Round 5, Pick 2 squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick144 Rnd5 Luke McCaffrey
No edge and no loss on Luke McCaffrey in pick No. 144; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick160 Rnd5 Tykee Smith
They paid sticker price for Tykee Smith in pick 160, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick163 Rnd5 Nelson Ceaser
They took Nelson Ceaser at par in pick 163, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick189 Rnd6 Kamal Hadden
They barely believed it either: Kamal Hadden still on the board at Round 6, Pick 14. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick199 Rnd6 Joe Milton III
Joe Milton III in pick No. 199 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick204 Rnd6 Julian Pearl
Julian Pearl at No. 204 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick209 Rnd6 Jared Wiley
Jared Wiley in the Round 6 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick213 Rnd6 Frank Gore Jr.
Frank Gore Jr. at slot 213 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
