FutureC+
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Seahawks. The Seahawks went off the board in a big way for Tanor Bortolini, 60 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. The bottom line is a respectable B.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Hadden. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
JC Latham
In pick 25 they get a blindside protector, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick35
Rnd2
Amarius Mims
Amarius Mims slid further than he should have, and pick No. 35 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick81
Rnd3
McKinnley Jackson
McKinnley Jackson in the Round 3 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick91
Rnd3
James Williams
They reached a country mile for James Williams at the 91st overall pick, and the board is aghast. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick118
Rnd4
Marist Liufau
Marist Liufau at the 118th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick126
Rnd4
Tanor Bortolini
This one needs a full-page explanation: Tanor Bortolini in No. 126, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick179
Rnd6
Dominique Hampton
A real head-scratcher, Dominique Hampton in the 179th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick192
Rnd6
Kamal Hadden
Steal is underselling it; Kamal Hadden at No. 192 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick235
Rnd7
Tylan Grable
Tylan Grable at pick 235 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
