Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB-
The Browns cashed the board's mistake on Higgins: B+.

You could see the war room lean forward. Jay Higgins at pick No. 216 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Abdul Carter
In the Round 1 slot they get a double-digit-sack hope at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick67 Rnd3 Alfred Collins
Value with a capital V on Alfred Collins in pick 67, a genuine coup. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick94 Rnd3 Ozzy Trapilo
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Ozzy Trapilo in the 94th overall pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick97 Rnd3 Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander at pick No. 97 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick103 Rnd4 Jalen Milroe
Jalen Milroe at Round 4, Pick 2 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick165 Rnd5 Chase Lundt
Chase Lundt at the 165th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick181 Rnd6 Jake Briningstool
You do not let a tight end like Jake Briningstool reach slot 181 and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick194 Rnd6 Phil Mafah
Phil Mafah at No. 194 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick202 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They robbed the room for Dont'e Thornton Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick216 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
Somehow Jay Higgins was still sitting there in the 216th pick, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick217 Rnd6 Luke Lachey
Luke Lachey in Round 6, Pick 39 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick257 Rnd7 Kaden Prather
Kaden Prather at the Round 7 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
