Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall B+
ValueA- NeedB+ TradesB+ FutureB
Best value of the weekend goes to the Panthers for Burke: B+.

You could see the war room lean forward. Denzel Burke at pick No. 163 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They will need Dippre to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Will Johnson
They read the board right and Will Johnson was the payoff at the 14th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick52 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
Malaki Starks in the 52nd pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick57 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
Xavier Watts slipping to slot 57 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick74 Rnd3 Demetrius Knight Jr.
A slide stopped in pick 74, with Demetrius Knight Jr. worth more than the price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick92 Rnd3 Ozzy Trapilo
Ozzy Trapilo at Round 3, Pick 28 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The roster fit checks out.
Pick111 Rnd4 Jalen Milroe
A tidy bit of business in No. 111, where Jalen Milroe graded well above the range. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick114 Rnd4 Jaylin Noel
Somehow Jaylin Noel was still sitting there in the Round 4 slot, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick140 Rnd5 Anthony Belton
Anthony Belton in pick No. 140 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick146 Rnd5 Jared Wilson
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Jared Wilson in the 146th overall pick, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick163 Rnd5 Denzel Burke
Denzel Burke in pick No. 163 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick172 Rnd5 Connor Colby
Connor Colby at slot 172 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It fills a real need, too.
Pick230 Rnd7 CJ Dippre
CJ Dippre at No. 230 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
