Draft Grade — Browns

FutureD-
The Browns bet the future on Ward. The board says B-. The Browns spent the pick that matters most on Cam Ward, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
That Bryant pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Reaching for Restrepo left real value on the table behind him.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Cam Ward
In No. 2 they get a long-term answer under center. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick31
Rnd1
Xavier Restrepo
In the 31st overall pick they get a go-to option on the outside, a steep price for the projection. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton in the 33rd pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick94
Rnd3
Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston slid further than he should have, and pick 94 is lovely value for the cornerback. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick103
Rnd4
Donovan Jackson
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Donovan Jackson at slot 103 is the proof. It fills a real need, too.
Pick181
Rnd6
Cobee Bryant
By-the-book stuff, Cobee Bryant at Round 6, Pick 3 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick194
Rnd6
Pat Bryant
Circle this one: Pat Bryant at pick No. 194 is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick202
Rnd6
Raheim Sanders
Raheim Sanders at the Round 6 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick217
Rnd6
RJ Harvey
Somehow RJ Harvey was still sitting there in the Round 6 slot, and they pounced on premier running back value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick257
Rnd7
Shilo Sanders
A wild overpay on Shilo Sanders in Round 7, Pick 39, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
