Draft Grade — Bears

FutureC+
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Bears to a C. The war room fell hard for Keaten Wade, and it showed at the Round 7 slot: 54 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. A mixed bag that lands at C.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The Haulcy steal is the beam this whole class leans on. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Kayden McDonald
In the Round 1 slot they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick58
Rnd2
Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles in Round 2, Pick 26 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick60
Rnd2
Darrell Jackson Jr.
They reached a country mile for Darrell Jackson Jr. at the 60th pick, and the board is aghast. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick81
Rnd3
Monroe Freeling
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Monroe Freeling. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick89
Rnd3
A.J. Haulcy
A safety of that caliber at the 89th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick126
Rnd4
Chase Bisontis
Nothing to complain about; Chase Bisontis went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick129
Rnd4
Vincent Anthony Jr.
A wild overpay on Vincent Anthony Jr. in the Round 4 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick139
Rnd4
Chase Roberts
They went early on Chase Roberts in pick No. 139, and the value did not follow. It fills a real need, too.
Pick164
Rnd5
Pat Coogan
A reach for Pat Coogan in Round 5, Pick 25; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick228
Rnd7
Tony Grimes
They left a pile of value on the table to take Tony Grimes this early at the 228th pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick239
Rnd7
Keaten Wade
Keaten Wade at No. 239 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick241
Rnd7
Eric Gentry
Eric Gentry at slot 241 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
