FutureA+
The Dolphins did enough to get by: C+. Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Dolphins spent pick No. 130 on Adam Randall, a name the board had a full 145 spots lower.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. However the rest shakes out, Klein at that price is a win they earned.
The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.
Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.
Pick Analysis
Pick57
Rnd2
Mike Washington Jr.
A real head-scratcher, Mike Washington Jr. in No. 57 is miles ahead of his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Pick75
Rnd3
Emmett Johnson
They reached a country mile for Emmett Johnson at pick No. 75, and the board is aghast. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick87
Rnd3
Demond Claiborne
They reached into another round for Demond Claiborne, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It fills a real need, too.
Pick130
Rnd4
Adam Randall
Adam Randall at Round 4, Pick 30 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick151
Rnd5
Drew Allar
A straight-up fair deal on Drew Allar at the 151st overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick170
Rnd5
Taylen Green
Taylen Green at slot 170 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick171
Rnd5
Marlin Klein
Marlin Klein is a better player than pick 171 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick212
Rnd6
John Michael Gyllenborg
They paid up for John Michael Gyllenborg at No. 212 when waiting would have done the job. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick218
Rnd7
J. Michael Sturdivant
This one needs a full-page explanation: J. Michael Sturdivant in the 218th pick, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick227
Rnd7
Hykeem Williams
Hykeem Williams at pick No. 227 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick229
Rnd7
Noah Thomas
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Noah Thomas well ahead of where he belonged. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick238
Rnd7
Shamar Easter
Shamar Easter at the 238th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
