FutureB-
The Dolphins fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B+. The Dolphins put a flag in the ground for Eric Gentry, 125 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.
The Slaughter pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.
The Moore pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher and interior defensive lineman still on the board. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Jeremiyah Love
They let Jeremiyah Love come to them and pounced at Round 1, Pick 11. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick30
Rnd1
Sonny Styles
In the 30th overall pick they get the heartbeat of the defense, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick75
Rnd3
Keionte Scott
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Keionte Scott at pick No. 75 is the proof. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick89
Rnd3
Ted Hurst
Ted Hurst in pick 89 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick90
Rnd3
Jake Slaughter
They will replay Jake Slaughter at slot 90 for years; that is how good the value is. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick92
Rnd3
Michael Trigg
This one needs a full-page explanation: Michael Trigg in No. 92, miles early. The roster fit checks out.
Pick94
Rnd3
Devin Moore
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Devin Moore at cornerback with edge rusher and interior defensive lineman open.
Pick112
Rnd4
Isaiah World
They reached a country mile for Isaiah World at pick No. 112, and the board is aghast. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick130
Rnd4
Dametrious Crownover
They went early on Dametrious Crownover in Round 4, Pick 30, and the value did not follow. It fills a real need, too.
Pick151
Rnd5
Drew Allar
Drew Allar in the 151st pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick152
Rnd5
Demond Claiborne
A reach on Demond Claiborne in the 152nd overall pick; the board had better options right there. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick177
Rnd5
Domani Jackson
Domani Jackson at No. 177 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick227
Rnd7
Eric Gentry
A big swing on Eric Gentry at pick 227, well ahead of any board in the building. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick238
Rnd7
Travis Burke
Value said wait; Travis Burke in the Round 7 slot says they were not listening. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
