Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Panthers were there to profit. Jalon Walker, the No. 23 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 57th overall pick. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
