Best value of the weekend goes to the Bengals for Skattebo: B-.

The board owed the Bengals one, and it paid up: Cam Skattebo, the No. 99 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 4 slot like a gift left on the doorstep.

That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The cost of the Campbell reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Jihaad Campbell
In the 17th pick they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, though the board says they badly overpaid.
Pick49 Rnd2 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson at the Round 2 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The roster fit checks out.
Pick81 Rnd3 Danny Stutsman
They paid sticker price for Danny Stutsman in pick 81, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick119 Rnd4 Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo at slot 119 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick153 Rnd5 Luke Kandra
A straight-up fair deal on Luke Kandra at the 153rd overall pick, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick193 Rnd6 Nazir Stackhouse
Nazir Stackhouse in pick No. 193 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
