Maye is the Bears' new face under center. Grade: D-. The phones were a trap the Bears kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.
Whatever Drake Maye becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. They will need Worthy to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In the 1st pick they get a difference-maker at receiver. A real need, handled.
Pick10
Rnd1
Drake Maye
In No. 10 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick32
Rnd1
Xavier Worthy
In the Round 1 slot they get a go-to option on the outside, though they paid up to get him. A real need, handled.
