The Bills cashed the board's mistake on Rosemy-Jacksaint: B. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint got past him. The Bills do not have to explain a thing at the Round 6 slot.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Kool-Aid McKinstry
In the 28th pick they get a ballhawk on the outside at a price that makes it sweeter. Need was not the driver here.
Pick37
Rnd2
Troy Franklin
A slide stopped in the 37th overall pick, with Troy Franklin worth more than the price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick99
Rnd3
DeWayne Carter
No edge and no loss on DeWayne Carter in Round 3, Pick 36; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick162
Rnd5
Malik Mustapha
Circle this one: Malik Mustapha at No. 162 is a fall that decides a draft. It fills a real need, too.
Pick165
Rnd5
Jaylen Wright
Jaylen Wright is a better player than the Round 5 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick197
Rnd6
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in pick 197 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick202
Rnd6
Kenny Logan Jr.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kenny Logan Jr.. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick206
Rnd6
Ethan Driskell
Ethan Driskell in pick No. 206 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick249
Rnd7
Eric Gentry
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Eric Gentry at No. 249. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
