Larceny in Round 6, Pick 26 lands the Lions a B-, Torrence and all. The rest of the league will want that one back. Ro Torrence tumbling to the Lions in pick 201 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 3 of 9 of the wish list covered.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Jackson Powers-Johnson
In the 29th pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick61
Rnd2
Braden Fiske
A tidy little value on Braden Fiske in pick No. 61, a step better than break-even. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick73
Rnd3
Max Melton
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Max Melton. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick164
Rnd5
Luke McCaffrey
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Luke McCaffrey at slot 164. The roster fit checks out.
Pick201
Rnd6
Ro Torrence
Ro Torrence in Round 6, Pick 26 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick205
Rnd6
Ryan Flournoy
Ryan Flournoy at pick 205 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick249
Rnd7
KT Leveston
Nothing to complain about; KT Leveston went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
