Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB+ TradesD+ FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Bears: B-.

Nobody else had Ty Robinson anywhere near pick 131. The Bears did, by 34 spots, and that gap is the whole story. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Emmanwori. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Adding Trevor Penning by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies. The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In Round 1, Pick 10 they get a lead back with juice at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick39 Rnd2 Landon Jackson
By-the-book stuff, Landon Jackson at pick No. 39 squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick41 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori in No. 41 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick72 Rnd3 Demetrius Knight Jr.
A slide stopped in slot 72, with Demetrius Knight Jr. worth more than the price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick131 Rnd4 Ty Robinson
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Ty Robinson well ahead of where he belonged. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick148 Rnd5 Jack Kiser
Jack Kiser at pick 148 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick184 Rnd6 Thomas Fidone II
They reached into another round for Thomas Fidone II, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick233 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
No drama and no debate, Isaac TeSlaa went about where he belonged in pick No. 233. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick240 Rnd7 Desmond Watson
Desmond Watson in the 240th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
