Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesC+ FutureC
The Seahawks did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Seahawks did exactly that with Shilo Sanders in Round 7, Pick 35. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

Leonard at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Nick Emmanwori
In slot 27 they get an enforcer at safety. Need was not the driver here.
Pick37 Rnd2 Colston Loveland
Nice patience on Colston Loveland, who had no business lasting to Round 2, Pick 5. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick39 Rnd2 Emeka Egbuka
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Emeka Egbuka in the Round 2 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick41 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
They took Tyler Booker at par in No. 41, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick103 Rnd4 Cody Simon
They talked themselves into Cody Simon at the 103rd pick, and the board did not agree. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick120 Rnd4 Cam Skattebo
A quiet steal in pick 120: Cam Skattebo for less than the market said. It fills a real need, too.
Pick130 Rnd4 Nick Nash
A wild overpay on Nick Nash in the Round 4 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick137 Rnd4 Jake Majors
Jake Majors in No. 137 lands just on the right side of the ledger. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick155 Rnd5 Riley Leonard
Steal is underselling it; Riley Leonard at pick No. 155 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick175 Rnd5 O'Donnell Fortune
They will replay O'Donnell Fortune at the 175th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick184 Rnd6 Willie Lampkin
Willie Lampkin in pick 184 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick223 Rnd7 Desmond Watson
No edge and no loss on Desmond Watson in Round 7, Pick 7; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick234 Rnd7 Cam Jackson
They did well to land Cam Jackson in the 234th pick, just ahead of his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick251 Rnd7 Shilo Sanders
They reached into another round for Shilo Sanders, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick257 Rnd7 Sam Brown Jr.
Sam Brown Jr. is a better player than the 257th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
