The 49ers land in the muddy middle: C+.

The rest of the league had time to spare on Isaiah World; the 49ers did not wait, grabbing him 45 spots ahead at the 27th pick. Call it a C+ and check back in two years.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took York.

They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

If Isaiah World and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

They robbed the room for Taurean York here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick127 Rnd4 Jakobe Thomas
Jakobe Thomas at the 127th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick133 Rnd4 Logan Jones
Logan Jones at pick No. 133 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick138 Rnd4 Tanner Koziol
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tanner Koziol. It fills a real need, too.

No drama and no debate, Eric McAlister went about where he belonged in the Round 5 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
