Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Cowboys.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Kamran James at No. 230 is 34 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.

They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Weigman steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In pick 12 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick20 Rnd1 Avieon Terrell
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get a sticky cover corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick112 Rnd4 D'Angelo Ponds
D'Angelo Ponds slid further than he should have, and the 112th overall pick is lovely value for the cornerback. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick154 Rnd5 Jalen Stroman
Jalen Stroman at the 154th pick is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick177 Rnd5 Charles Jagusah
No edge and no loss on Charles Jagusah in pick No. 177; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick215 Rnd6 Conner Weigman
Value with a capital V on Conner Weigman in the Round 6 slot, a genuine coup. It fills a real need, too.
Pick221 Rnd7 Riley Mahlman
Riley Mahlman in pick No. 221 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick225 Rnd7 Keyron Crawford
A straight-up fair deal on Keyron Crawford at slot 225, value and slot in agreement. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick230 Rnd7 Kamran James
They reached into another round for Kamran James, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
