Draft Grade — Bears

FutureA+
Nobody dealt better than the Bears this weekend: A-. Some picks age like wine; Jaylin Simpson at slot 111 will need to, sitting 43 spots clear of his grade. Add it all up and it grades out a clean A-.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Bottom line, with Olumuyiwa Fashanu leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Olumuyiwa Fashanu. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick9
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In the Round 1 slot they get a true top target. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Zach Frazier
Zach Frazier at the 35th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick75
Rnd3
Jamari Thrash
A conviction pick on Jamari Thrash at the 75th overall pick that the board grades a round light. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick101
Rnd4
Darius Robinson
This one needs a full-page explanation: Darius Robinson in Round 4, Pick 1, miles early. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick111
Rnd4
Jaylin Simpson
A real head-scratcher, Jaylin Simpson in pick 111 is miles ahead of his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick123
Rnd4
Justin Eboigbe
A straight-up fair deal on Justin Eboigbe at pick No. 123, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick143
Rnd5
Renardo Green
They paid a round early for Renardo Green in the Round 5 slot, more than the board wanted. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick182
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
A big swing on Jared Wiley at slot 182, well ahead of any board in the building. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
