The 49ers lost the trade table, and the D tells the story.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the 49ers would have aced it. Bryce Foster at Round 4, Pick 31 is 65 spots clear of where he belonged. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Grant falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

The Jordan Love deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
