Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B+
ValueB+ NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB
The 49ers let Sampson fall and pounced. Final grade: B+.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Dylan Sampson tumbling to the 49ers in the 99th overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.

They will need Gray to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Walter Nolen
In No. 12 they get a wrecking ball inside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick45 Rnd2 Jalon Walker
You do not let a linebacker like Jalon Walker reach pick No. 45 and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick75 Rnd3 Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren at pick 75 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick99 Rnd3 Dylan Sampson
Taking Dylan Sampson in Round 3, Pick 35 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick111 Rnd4 Jake Majors
A slide stopped in the 111th pick, with Jake Majors worth more than the price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick137 Rnd4 Joshua Gray
They talked themselves into Joshua Gray at slot 137, and the board did not agree. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
