Draft Grade — Buccaneers

The steal of the weekend belongs to the Buccaneers and Barner: B. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Buccaneers were there to profit. AJ Barner, the No. 193 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 247. The bottom line is a respectable B.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick75
Rnd3
Bo Nix
Bo Nix at Round 3, Pick 11 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick89
Rnd3
Malachi Corley
Malachi Corley in slot 89 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick142
Rnd5
Malik Washington
They barely believed it either: Malik Washington still on the board at No. 142. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick191
Rnd6
Jaylin Simpson
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Jaylin Simpson in pick No. 191, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick204
Rnd6
Ty'Ron Hopper
The board fumbled Ty'Ron Hopper all the way to the Round 6 slot, and they scooped it up. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick220
Rnd6
Michael Wiley
Steal is underselling it; Michael Wiley at pick 220 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It fills a real need, too.
Pick247
Rnd7
AJ Barner
Taking AJ Barner in the 247th pick is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
