FutureB
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Commanders a B. The war room fell hard for Barryn Sorrell, and it showed at Round 6, Pick 28: 109 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
The Marks value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Nick Emmanwori
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a rangy last line of defense at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick62
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
A tidy little value on TreVeyon Henderson in pick 62, a step better than break-even. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick79
Rnd3
Alfred Collins
Somehow Alfred Collins was still sitting there in the 79th overall pick, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. It fills a real need, too.
Pick131
Rnd4
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. in the 131st pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick172
Rnd5
Cobee Bryant
Cobee Bryant in No. 172 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick175
Rnd5
Jack Nelson
Nothing to complain about; Jack Nelson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick206
Rnd6
Barryn Sorrell
A big swing on Barryn Sorrell at pick No. 206, well ahead of any board in the building. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick207
Rnd6
Woody Marks
They barely believed it either: Woody Marks still on the board at the 207th pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick238
Rnd7
Shemar James
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Shemar James at the 238th overall pick. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick250
Rnd7
Nick Martin
A premium they did not need to pay, Nick Martin a notch or two before his time. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
