Draft Grade — Seahawks

The phones sank the Seahawks this weekend: C.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Seahawks took Tree Babalade a full 33 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

They will answer for taking cornerback early while quarterback, running back and other spots went begging. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.

Pick Analysis
Pick29 Rnd1 Nyck Harbor
In slot 29 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick47 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
A quiet steal in pick No. 47: Caleb Banks for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick54 Rnd2 Jalon Kilgore
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jalon Kilgore this early at the 54th overall pick. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick61 Rnd2 Sonny Styles
This one needs a full-page explanation: Sonny Styles in Round 2, Pick 29, miles early. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick64 Rnd2 Domonique Orange
Domonique Orange in pick 64 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick79 Rnd3 Caleb Tiernan
The board had cheaper options than Caleb Tiernan at the Round 3 slot, and it noticed. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick115 Rnd4 Domani Jackson
They bypassed pressing needs at quarterback, running back and other spots to take Domani Jackson, a cornerback that was not the priority.
Pick154 Rnd5 Tree Babalade
A wild overpay on Tree Babalade in Round 5, Pick 16, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick179 Rnd6 Nic Anderson
Steal is underselling it; Nic Anderson at pick No. 179 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick193 Rnd6 Bryce Foster
A reach on Bryce Foster in the Round 6 slot; the board had better options right there. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
