Slasky80 DRAFTING FOR THEBears

Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

FutureB-
The Bears did enough to get by: C+. The Bears put a flag in the ground for Parker Brailsford, 42 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Emery Jones Jr.
They paid up for Emery Jones Jr. at Round 1, Pick 20 when waiting would have done the job. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick33
Rnd2
Parker Brailsford
Parker Brailsford at the Round 2 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick52
Rnd2
Tate Ratledge
No drama and no debate, Tate Ratledge went about where he belonged in No. 52. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick84
Rnd3
Keon Sabb
They left a pile of value on the table to take Keon Sabb this early at the 84th overall pick. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick110
Rnd4
Shemar Turner
By-the-book stuff, Shemar Turner at pick 110 squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick116
Rnd4
DJ Giddens
DJ Giddens in pick No. 116 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick148
Rnd5
Collin Oliver
Collin Oliver in the Round 5 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick180
Rnd6
Brant Kuithe
A reach on Brant Kuithe in the 180th pick; the board had better options right there. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick212
Rnd7
Kaden Prather
They jumped the gun on Kaden Prather, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick214
Rnd7
Justin Walley
They paid a round early for Justin Walley in the 214th overall pick, more than the board wanted. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
