Draft Grade — Giants
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB+ TradesF FutureC
The Giants got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D-.

The phones were a trap the Giants kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.

Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They banked enough surplus on Coleman to cover a lot of smaller sins. The veteran additions, Jared Goff chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick36 Rnd2 Troy Fautanu
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 4 with a little surplus value in Troy Fautanu. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick39 Rnd2 Emeka Egbuka
Nothing to complain about; Emeka Egbuka went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick40 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
Value with a capital V on Keon Coleman in the 40th overall pick, a genuine coup. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick54 Rnd2 Kris Jenkins
Good price on Kris Jenkins in slot 54, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It fills a real need, too.
Pick100 Rnd3 Zak Zinter
They took Zak Zinter at par in the 100th pick, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick102 Rnd4 Tykee Smith
No drama and no debate, Tykee Smith went about where he belonged in pick No. 102. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick166 Rnd5 Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
The board had Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint higher than No. 166, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
