Draft Grade — Rams

FutureB-
The Rams worked the phones like thieves and earned a B. If confidence were a draft strategy, the Rams would have aced it. Isaac TeSlaa at pick 170 is 63 spots clear of where he belonged. No fireworks, but a solid B.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The Jackson steal is the beam this whole class leans on. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Colston Loveland
In pick No. 30 they get a mismatch in the passing game at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick98
Rnd3
Anthony Belton
They liked Anthony Belton enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 3 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick101
Rnd3
Riley Leonard
This one needs a full-page explanation: Riley Leonard in slot 101, miles early. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick127
Rnd4
Cobee Bryant
A straight-up fair deal on Cobee Bryant at the 127th pick, value and slot in agreement. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick135
Rnd4
Kobe King
Nothing to complain about; Kobe King went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick169
Rnd5
Tommi Hill
A slide stopped in Round 5, Pick 31, with Tommi Hill worth more than the price. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick170
Rnd5
Isaac TeSlaa
They talked themselves into Isaac TeSlaa at pick 170, and the board did not agree. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick177
Rnd6
Connor Colby
They paid sticker price for Connor Colby in the Round 6 slot, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick190
Rnd6
Jack Nelson
Jack Nelson in the 190th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick195
Rnd6
Jack Kiser
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jack Kiser at No. 195 is the proof. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick201
Rnd6
Caleb Ransaw
By-the-book stuff, Caleb Ransaw at slot 201 squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick205
Rnd6
Fadil Diggs
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Fadil Diggs. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick245
Rnd7
Ja'Quinden Jackson
A running back of that caliber at Round 7, Pick 29 is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
