Draft Grade — Giants

Best value of the weekend goes to the Giants for Pritchett: D-. You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Giants did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. Put together, it is a D-.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Pritchett pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
The Zinter pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Jared Verse
In pick 20 they get juice off the edge. A real need, handled.
Pick39
Rnd2
Troy Fautanu
Nice patience on Troy Fautanu, who had no business lasting to the 39th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick46
Rnd2
Tyler Guyton
Nothing to complain about; Tyler Guyton went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick70
Rnd3
Kalen King
You do not let a cornerback like Kalen King reach the Round 3 slot and blink. They did not. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick86
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
A reach for Zak Zinter in Round 3, Pick 23; a little patience would have been rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick107
Rnd4
Audric Estime
Audric Estime at slot 107 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
Pick138
Rnd5
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
A premium they did not need to pay, Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint a notch or two before his time. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick185
Rnd6
Nehemiah Pritchett
Nehemiah Pritchett in the Round 6 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick204
Rnd6
Javon Baker
They read the board right and Javon Baker was the payoff at pick 204. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
