The search is over. The Patriots handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development.

Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They will need Liufau to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Getting Simpson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
