A solid, sensible weekend for the Lions: B-.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Lions did exactly that with Baylor Cupp in Round 7, Pick 30. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up. However the rest shakes out, Vidal at that price is a win they earned.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but linebacker.

In slot 29 they get a lockdown presence outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.

Chris Braswell at the 61st pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.

By-the-book stuff, Cooper Beebe at the 73rd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.

This one needs a full-page explanation: Leonard Taylor III in Round 3, Pick 29, miles early. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick167 Rnd5 Kitan Oladapo
No edge and no loss on Kitan Oladapo in pick 167; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.

They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kimani Vidal in the Round 6 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
