Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall

ValueB

TradesF
FutureB-
The Cowboys drew a line under the quarterback search with Sanders: D. The trade table was where it all came apart. The Cowboys shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D.
Shedeur Sanders gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. However the rest shakes out, Milum at that price is a win they earned. They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Every board in the league had Young lower, and that gap is the story.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, cornerback very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Shedeur Sanders
In pick 26 they get the arm they will build around, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Pick39
Rnd2
Landon Jackson
Fair-plus on Landon Jackson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick58
Rnd2
Earnest Greene III
Earnest Greene III at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick71
Rnd3
Josh Simmons
Josh Simmons in No. 71 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick90
Rnd3
Nicholas Singleton
They paid sticker price for Nicholas Singleton in pick No. 90, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick91
Rnd3
J. Michael Sturdivant
No edge and no loss on J. Michael Sturdivant in slot 91; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick122
Rnd4
Raheim Sanders
Raheim Sanders is a better player than Round 4, Pick 26 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick154
Rnd5
Wyatt Milum
Circle this one: Wyatt Milum at the 154th pick is a fall that decides a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick186
Rnd6
Colbie Young
Colbie Young in slot 186 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
