Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesC- FutureA+
More right than wrong for the Browns, and a B to prove it.

For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Browns walked out of the weekend still thin at quarterback, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

Reaching for Davis left real value on the table behind him. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Jordyn Tyson
In the 18th overall pick they get a difference-maker at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick24 Rnd1 Caleb Lomu
They paid up for Caleb Lomu at slot 24 when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick39 Rnd2 Olaivavega Ioane
A straight-up fair deal on Olaivavega Ioane at pick 39, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
Pick49 Rnd2 Emmanuel Pregnon
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 2 slot with a little surplus value in Emmanuel Pregnon. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick70 Rnd3 Ja'Kobi Lane
They did well to land Ja'Kobi Lane in Round 3, Pick 6, just ahead of his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick107 Rnd4 J.C. Davis
J.C. Davis at No. 107 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick139 Rnd5 DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart at pick No. 139 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick144 Rnd5 Domani Jackson
They took Domani Jackson at par in the 144th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick147 Rnd5 Chase Roberts
By-the-book stuff, Chase Roberts at the 147th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick194 Rnd6 Isaiah Jatta
No edge and no loss on Isaiah Jatta in No. 194; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick204 Rnd6 Peyton Bowen
Peyton Bowen at the Round 6 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick248 Rnd7 Jordan Hall
Jordan Hall in pick 248 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
