Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureB
A respectable, level-headed haul for the 49ers: B.

The 49ers torched the value chart for Thor Griffith, taking him 101 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

The Henderson value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Walter Nolen
In the Round 1 slot they get a disruptive interior force. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick43 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
They will replay Nick Emmanwori at slot 43 for years; that is how good the value is. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick49 Rnd2 Jalon Walker
Somehow Jalon Walker was still sitting there in pick 49, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It fills a real need, too.
Pick75 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
They paid a round early for Donovan Jackson in the 75th pick, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick99 Rnd3 Harold Fannin Jr.
Harold Fannin Jr. in pick No. 99 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
Pick119 Rnd4 TreVeyon Henderson
A top-tier running back at a bargain, TreVeyon Henderson in No. 119, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick137 Rnd4 Luke Kandra
Luke Kandra at slot 137 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick156 Rnd5 Jonah Monheim
A quiet steal in pick 156: Jonah Monheim for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick157 Rnd5 Cobee Bryant
Cobee Bryant at No. 157 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick185 Rnd6 Thor Griffith
Thor Griffith at Round 6, Pick 10 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick226 Rnd7 Luke Lachey
The board fumbled Luke Lachey all the way to the 226th pick, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
