A franchise passer in Sanders headlines a D weekend for the Cowboys. Somebody took the Cowboys to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.
They have staked the next five years on Shedeur Sanders, which is the only story that really matters here. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Sanders has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Stewart falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
James Pearce Jr.
Value with a capital V on James Pearce Jr. in Round 1, Pick 10, a genuine coup. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick26
Rnd1
Shedeur Sanders
In the Round 1 slot they get a passer to set the clock by, outstanding value to boot.
Pick42
Rnd2
Ajani Cornelius
Ajani Cornelius at the 42nd pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick58
Rnd2
Earnest Greene III
No drama and no debate, Earnest Greene III went about where he belonged in pick No. 58. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick62
Rnd2
Danny Stutsman
By-the-book stuff, Danny Stutsman at pick 62 squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick72
Rnd3
Nic Anderson
No edge and no loss on Nic Anderson in the 72nd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick74
Rnd3
Evan Stewart
Circle this one: Evan Stewart at slot 74 is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick90
Rnd3
Raheim Sanders
They reached a country mile for Raheim Sanders at No. 90, and the board is aghast. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick91
Rnd3
J. Michael Sturdivant
They paid sticker price for J. Michael Sturdivant in the 91st pick, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick122
Rnd4
Nick Emmanwori
They took Nick Emmanwori at par in the 122nd overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick130
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun at No. 130 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick154
Rnd5
Tyler Baron
Tyler Baron at Round 5, Pick 26 is a conviction pick that outran the value. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick186
Rnd6
Will Howard
Will Howard at slot 186 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
