Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall

TradesF
FutureB-
Quarterback settled, Sanders in the fold, and a D- for the Cowboys. You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Cowboys did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.
They have staked the next five years on Shedeur Sanders, which is the only story that really matters here. If Anderson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Landing Emmanwori that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, linebacker very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Shedeur Sanders
The board had Shedeur Sanders higher than Round 1, Pick 28, and the quarterback fell to them anyway. It fills a real need, too.
Pick58
Rnd2
Ajani Cornelius
No drama and no debate, Ajani Cornelius went about where he belonged in pick 58. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick62
Rnd2
Nic Anderson
They reached into another round for Nic Anderson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick90
Rnd3
Nicholas Singleton
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Nicholas Singleton. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick91
Rnd3
Shemar Turner
A wild overpay on Shemar Turner in the Round 3 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick92
Rnd3
Nazir Stackhouse
By-the-book stuff, Nazir Stackhouse at pick No. 92 squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick93
Rnd3
Riley Leonard
Riley Leonard in slot 93 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick97
Rnd4
Raheim Sanders
The board had cheaper options than Raheim Sanders at the 97th overall pick, and it noticed. The roster fit checks out.
Pick122
Rnd4
Wyatt Milum
Wyatt Milum at the 122nd overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick129
Rnd5
Gabe Jacas
They took Gabe Jacas at par in Round 5, Pick 1, which is nothing to complain about. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick154
Rnd5
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori in pick 154 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick186
Rnd6
Will Lee III
A straight-up fair deal on Will Lee III at pick No. 186, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
