Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall
D

FutureB+
The Cowboys got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D. The Cowboys put a flag in the ground for Chip Trayanum, 92 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. However the rest shakes out, Umanmielen at that price is a win they earned.
In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In No. 6 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick28
Rnd1
Emery Jones Jr.
In slot 28 they get a building block for the line. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick38
Rnd2
Princely Umanmielen
Nice patience on Princely Umanmielen, who had no business lasting to the Round 2 slot. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick58
Rnd2
Danny Stutsman
Danny Stutsman in the 58th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick62
Rnd2
Nic Anderson
A conviction pick on Nic Anderson at pick No. 62 that the board grades a round light. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick70
Rnd3
Nicholas Singleton
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Nicholas Singleton well ahead of where he belonged. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick90
Rnd3
J. Michael Sturdivant
J. Michael Sturdivant at No. 90 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick91
Rnd3
Riley Leonard
No edge and no loss on Riley Leonard in the Round 3 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick92
Rnd3
Nazir Stackhouse
Nazir Stackhouse in Round 3, Pick 28 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick122
Rnd4
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori at slot 122 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick154
Rnd5
Reuben Fatheree II
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Reuben Fatheree II. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick186
Rnd6
Chip Trayanum
Chip Trayanum at pick No. 186 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick188
Rnd6
Will Howard
Will Howard slid further than he should have, and pick 188 is lovely value for the quarterback. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
