Draft Grade — Cowboys

FutureB-
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Cowboys to a D-. The Cowboys looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Chip Trayanum at pick 186 regardless, 95 picks early.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The Moore pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with cornerback, linebacker and other spots still on the board. A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and cornerback is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Emery Jones Jr.
In slot 28 they get a blindside protector. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick58
Rnd2
Earnest Greene III
Earnest Greene III at the 58th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick62
Rnd2
Nic Anderson
They paid a round early for Nic Anderson in pick 62, more than the board wanted. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick65
Rnd3
Nicholas Singleton
A wild overpay on Nicholas Singleton in Round 3, Pick 1, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick73
Rnd3
Shemar Turner
Value said wait; Shemar Turner in pick No. 73 says they were not listening. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick90
Rnd3
Derrick Moore
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the 90th pick on Derrick Moore with cornerback, linebacker and other spots unsolved.
Pick91
Rnd3
Wyatt Milum
Wyatt Milum in the 91st overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick92
Rnd3
Riley Leonard
Riley Leonard in slot 92 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick122
Rnd4
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori in No. 122 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick154
Rnd5
Will Sheppard
Will Sheppard at pick No. 154 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick186
Rnd6
Chip Trayanum
A big swing on Chip Trayanum at the Round 6 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
