Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA FutureB
The Commanders kept it disciplined and banked a B+.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Dominic Zvada at pick No. 225 is 63 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.

For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. Lew falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
In the Round 1 slot they get a lead back with juice, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Pick44 Rnd2 Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles in the 44th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick52 Rnd2 Connor Lew
Connor Lew at slot 52 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick73 Rnd3 A.J. Harris
A reasonable price with a little left over, A.J. Harris in No. 73. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick114 Rnd4 Domani Jackson
They took Domani Jackson at par in pick 114, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick147 Rnd5 DeMonte Capehart
A premium they did not need to pay, DeMonte Capehart a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick186 Rnd6 Taylen Green
Taylen Green at the 186th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick197 Rnd6 Dane Key
Dane Key in the Round 6 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick224 Rnd7 Barion Brown
This one needs a full-page explanation: Barion Brown in pick No. 224, miles early. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick225 Rnd7 Dominic Zvada
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Dominic Zvada. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick249 Rnd7 Da'Shawn Womack
Da'Shawn Womack at Round 7, Pick 34 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
