Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Dolphins.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Dolphins reached some 74 spots for Jack Pyburn, and value like that does not grow back. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

They banked enough surplus on Stukes to cover a lot of smaller sins. The Dolphins indulged a want in Ponds while a need in quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots stayed open.

A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Mansoor Delane
In pick 11 they get a lockdown presence outside. More want than need.
Pick43 Rnd2 D'Angelo Ponds
They zigged when the board said zag, taking D'Angelo Ponds at cornerback with quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots open.
Pick75 Rnd3 Jacob Rodriguez
A straight-up fair deal on Jacob Rodriguez at pick No. 75, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick90 Rnd3 Keylan Rutledge
Keylan Rutledge in the Round 3 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick93 Rnd3 Skyler Bell
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Skyler Bell in No. 93. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick111 Rnd4 Treydan Stukes
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went cornerback with Treydan Stukes while clear needs at quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots sat open.
Pick127 Rnd4 Mason Reiger
Mason Reiger in pick No. 127 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick151 Rnd5 Beau Stephens
They did well to land Beau Stephens in Round 5, Pick 11, just ahead of his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick207 Rnd6 Jack Pyburn
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jack Pyburn. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick227 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Trey Zuhn III well ahead of where he belonged. The roster fit checks out.
Pick238 Rnd7 Kaden Wetjen
Kaden Wetjen slipping to the 238th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
