JSB1976 DRAFTING FOR THEFalcons

FutureB
Larceny in pick 244 lands the Falcons a B-, Stout and all. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Upton Stout, the No. 183 name on the board, stolen at pick 244. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
That offensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Their trades came out a wash either way.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Jalon Walker
In the 17th pick they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece. A real need, handled.
Pick46
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
The board fumbled Nick Emmanwori all the way to pick 46, and they scooped it up. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick117
Rnd4
Smael Mondon Jr.
They did well to land Smael Mondon Jr. in the Round 4 slot, just ahead of his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick118
Rnd4
Jordan Phillips
Jordan Phillips at slot 118 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick244
Rnd7
Upton Stout
Taking Upton Stout in No. 244 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
